Biography  Emma Desirée Comer

Emma Desirée Comer (26.02.2001) is a Belgian designer whose practice moves between textiles, spatial design, and applied arts. She approaches design with a bold visual language and a strong sensitivity to materiality, color, and structure. Currently pursuing an MFA in Textile Design - Weaving at the Rhode Island School of Design, she focuses on weaving and spatial textile constructions, exploring how textiles can form and redefine space.

Drawing from her lived environment, Comer approaches her work with playfulness and continuous experimentation. She combines colors, textures, and a variety of forming techniques to create works that are both tactile and sculptural. Her projects are spatial, diverse, and exploratory, revealing how materials can be pushed beyond their conventional uses.

Comer’s practice exists at the intersection of textiles and applied art, where space, structure, and tangibility come to the foreground. She often works with everyday or utilitarian materials such as rope, construction and sailing components, plastics, and synthetic fibers. Through these choices, she creates a dialogue between craft and contemporary design, transforming familiar materials into new physical and aesthetic experiences.
